Mudjimba Island - Beautiful coral wallpapers.

Despite the absolutely terrible visibility and strong surge earlier this week, I was still able to get some really nice coral shots from around Mudjimba Island on the Sunshine Coast.

More than often after diving, I find myself using one of the photos I took as a new wallpaper on my phone. So with that in mind, I decided to make all of my pics from this dive into beautiful coral wallpapers. Feel free to download your favourites.

Mudjimba Island, (also known as Old Woman Island) is home to some really vibrant corals. I love the clusters of mushroom coral and brain coral in the pictures above. With a wide angle and some bright lights, you wouldn’t even know the viz was only a couple of meters.

Towards the end of the first dive, the viz cleared slightly which allowed me to get the shot with the nice blue water backdrop. The rest of the time I was mostly shooting directly down onto the coral.

I decided to go with black and white for the 3 images below to really emphasise the different textures. This is also a good little trick for when the visibility is too low to bring out the natural colours underwater.

Thanks to SunReef Mooloolaba for a fun afternoon of diving. Let’s hope for calmer seas and better visibility next time!
